Don’t get overwhelmed!  You don’t really have to use that many social media platforms to promote your company.  However,  it would be good to know the different social networks, social media platforms and online communities that your company  can collaborate with to increase your online presence.  A combination of 3 to 4 social media applications can get you started to a very good campaign.

An example is how a Tweet from a local newspaper, Hills Shire Times about a Glee Flash Mob in Castle Towers caught my attention. The tweet led me to the digital copy of their newspaper that has a video and article about the flash mob promoting the Glee 3D Movie at Castle Towers. The Facebook link allowed me to quickly share the Vimeo video on my wall. I also blogged about it just now.

I just mentioned 4 social media platforms used to promote a movie and drive traffic to the digital edition of a local newspaper.  Without social media, a newspaper’s media reach will be limited to the people who read the newspaper.  But, with social media, you don’t only reach 1 reader but potentially the people in the social network(s) of that 1 reader.
